Future of C# and Visual studio

WPF, WINRT what else ?

    3 février 2017 à 12:28:50

    Hello,

We are in 2017 and when I search about WPF I see posts dating to 2012, I really don't have a big idea bout it but still I have heard things like WPF is dead an WINRT is replacing it.

I am actually at the door steps of developing an application related to Image processing and Image comparaison, I would like to have few ideas about my available options and such, maybe I just should just start developing with C# and ignore this matter, I really don't know.

This is also a question about the future not the present and please take in consideration that I'm a still an amateur, ops I shouldn't have said that...

    My sincere Salutations.

      Hello,

I found some answers about "WPF Dead or not ?" here : https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/671b5e3d-9a92-40d1-b893-28387cb1330a/wpf-dead-or-not?forum=wpf

For me, It's a technology I continue to use for my personal projects.

It's hard to make C# cross-platform so I assume that you want to develop for Windows. WPF, for me, isn't dead and still a good technology for 2017 and maybe 2018. (Will see btw) Only If you want to develop for Windows platform. Since C# is not (really/natively) cross-platform and If you need cross-platform, change the language you use.

Hope this topic (from social microsoft forum) can answer you.

      Have a good day,

      Julien
