Every day, something asks you to believe it: a headline, an ad, a friend who “read somewhere” that a supplement fixes your sleep. Most of it looks convincing. A polished website, a confident tone, even the words “studies show.” None of that tells you whether it is actually true.

If you make real decisions based on what you read, about consumer choices, your health, or a civic issue, then convincing is not the same as correct. Without a reliable way to check, you end up trusting the loudest source instead of the most credible one, and you cannot defend your conclusion when someone pushes back.

This course gives you a repeatable method for deciding what to believe, on any topic. You will learn SIFT, a simple four-move model used by professional fact-checkers, and put each move to work: investigate who is behind a source, judge the quality of its evidence, check it against independent sources, and trace its claims back to where they actually come from. It is built for complete beginners, every term is defined as it appears, and it pairs with a hands-on project where you investigate a question you care about.

Stop guessing what is true. Enroll now and learn to prove it, one claim at a time.
