InVision Sharing Options
InVision provides different options for sharing prototypes:
Send a link via email: you can enter an email address, and InVision will send an email with an install link to that email account.
Get a public link: this option lets you get an actual URL that you can share any way you like. You can give anyone this URL, and this will open the prototype when they click on it. For example, if you have an internal messaging service in your company (like Slack or Yammer), you might want to share a URL this way.
Send an SMS to mobile: an SMS with an install link is sent.
Install the prototype on your mobile device: this is my preferred option, as then I always have the prototype available any time I need it. I'll give you detailed steps below.
1. Send link via email
InVision makes it easy to add email addresses and also to type a personal message to the recipients which makes sending links by email very easy.
2. Get a public link
As I mentioned above, sometimes you want to share the prototype via channels that are not email. I often share a prototype link via Slack (an internal messaging service that other employees use).
If you wanted to keep internal documentation with the tech team that referred to this prototype, then using a public link in this way would be effective.
3.Send SMS to mobile
Sending SMS to a mobile is also very quick and easy in InVision.
4. Install on your mobile device
To install the InVision prototype on your mobile device, then follow these steps:
Send yourself a link to the prototype (either via public link, SMS or email).
Open this link on the mobile device on which you would like to install the prototype.
Add the prototype to home screen (as per the screenshots below).
Then you can celebrate because the result of all the work you have done in this course really pays off in the best way. You can now show a prototype that you have built to anybody you meet on your own mobile device!
Summary
You can share your prototype by the following methods:
Send a link via email.
Get a public link.
Send an SMS to mobile.
Install the prototype on your mobile device.
Installing the prototype on your mobile device is my preferred option for getting in-person feedback from customers. In the next chapter, we'll look at some techniques for how to best manage those interviews so that you generate bias-free feedback that optimizes your learning!
