Design a Personal Creativity Toolkit

So far, you’ve assessed your current creativity and identified areas you want to develop. You’ve explored ways to nurture your creative mind and found ways to help you focus on creative tasks.

You’ve experimented with lots of practical exercises to help you generate ideas and discovered how to use convergent thinking to hone these down to one or two viable solutions. You’ve applied what you’ve learned to real problems at work and also looked at how to apply your creativity before you land the job - in applications and interviews.

And through this, you’ve reflected on your learning through your creativity journal.

Create Your Personal Creativity Toolkit

Now, it’s time to pull together your creativity toolkit. Think of it as a place to record what’s worked for you creatively as you’ve progressed through the course, but also to log the tools that can help you most going forward.

First, download a copy of the creativity toolkit (.docx / .odt), which breaks down your learning on the course into five key subskills.

Next, look through your journal and reflect on the exercises you’ve done throughout the course. You may have found some particularly useful, and others more challenging. Now, use the creativity toolkit to help you answer the following five questions:

  1. Which one of the five subskills is your strongest?

  2. Which one of the five subskills did you find most challenging?

  3. Focusing on the creative exercises and techniques you’ve explored on this course, which of the practical tools in the creativity toolkit can help you improve on the subskill you highlighted in question 2?

  4. Which of the listed tools have you found most effective, and why?

  5. Reflecting on the course as a whole, what other strategies can you put in place to nurture your creativity long-term?

Congratulations!

You’ve reached the end of the course.

I’ve enjoyed guiding you through the creative process, and I hope you’ve had fun exploring and developing all aspects of your creativity.

Remember, everyone is creative and can improve this skill. I hope you’ve seen your own creativity develop as you’ve progressed through the course.

As a lifelong learning skill, creativity can be applied to all areas of your life and work. Keep this in mind whenever you’re tasked with finding innovative solutions and make these tools and techniques a regular part of your approach to problem-solving.

Good luck!
