What’s Next for Your App?
You’ve made it! You’ve completed this entire course on building web applications with ASP.NET Core MVC. Your Watchlist app is functional, looks good, and is alive and well on Azure at its URL. You might ask yourself what else you can do with it.
As with all applications, you could add innumerable features and capabilities. Unless you identify a point at which an application is complete, and its life cycle has ended, you’ll probably continue adding to it. The following is a list of possible features you might consider adding to make your Watchlist app even more useful:
Add movie genres.
Add sorting and filtering to the full movies list as well as individual watchlists.
Add cast and crew attributes.
Add search capability to the full movies list - search by title, year, producer, director, actor, etc.
Add detailed reviews.
Add roles for users - admin, etc.
Add household accounts with individual user profiles within each household.
Display CRUD views as modal dialogs instead of separate pages.
These are a few of the more common ideas you might consider incorporating into your Watchlist application. As you continue to work on your app, you will undoubtedly come up with ideas that you’ll want to try to implement. Look for ways to enhance your applications in terms of your users’ overall experience, then take the time to experiment and learn. Coding is always a learn-by-doing exercise. So keep at it! You’re doing terrific so far!
There’s just one thing left to do. That’s right. You’ve got one last quiz to complete. Don’t stress about it. MVC development is becoming more intuitive to you now, and you’re well on your way to designing and building your own MVC applications.
