Write a Report

You’ve just finished the assessment? Take a few minutes now to fill out your report!

Creating Reports

A good report should meet the following three criteria:

  • It should be personalized: focus on specific details from the student’s work.

  • It should be in-depth: assess all the skills covered by the project.

  • It should be coherent: feedback should be coherent with your decision. If you decide to pass the student, then most of your feedback should be on the project’s strengths. If you decide to fail the student, you should outline why you could not accept the project and identify what the student needs to work on for the future.

Over to You!

In the previous quiz, you analyzed the deliverables submitted by two students: Patrick and Sarah.

Let’s imagine that these two students have completed their assessment, and it’s now time for you to write the report. First, look at the assessors’ reports.

Would you say that they are sufficiently personalized, in-depth, and coherent? Please fill out the table below, identifying whether you think they followed the criteria.

Report for Sarah

Report for Patrick

Personalized

In-depth

Coherent

Have you finished yet? We did the exercise too! Here’s what we came up with:

Report for Sarah

Report for Patrick

Personalized

Yes - the assessor has provided personalized feedback on Sarah’s strengths and the areas for improvement.

Yes - the assessor has provided personalized feedback on Patrick’s strengths and the areas for improvement.

In-depth

Yes - but the assessor could have outlined which assessment criteria were approved.

Yes - the assessor provided details for all of the criteria.

Coherent

Yes - the skills have been acquired so the project was accepted.

No - the assessor added in an extra criteria, discussing the aesthetics of the slides. This was not part of the assessment criteria for the project and the student’s project should have been accepted.

Let's Recap!

The report should be:

  • Personalized.

  • In-depth.

  • Coherent.

Let's head to the last quiz of this course!
