Get the Most Out of This Course

Welcome to this course!

Whether you are already an assessor or wish to become one in the future, this course will provide you with information about the role and techniques used to objectively assess a student’s skills and give them constructive feedback.

The Course Structure

This course includes:

  • Explanatory video clips at the start of each chapter.

  • Advice from two assessors, John and Mike, based on their experience.

  • Exercises to complete stemming from situations you will face later on with students.

  • Quizzes to evaluate the skills you should acquire during each part of the course.

We encourage you to use these resources during the course!

This course is in three parts. You can go through them in order, or you can start with the topic you’re the most interested in first:

  1. The role of an assessor: this part will be of particular interest to those who are not yet assessors and would like to learn more about the responsibilities.

  2. Evaluating a student’s skills: this part outlines the techniques used to assess a student’s deliverables and their presentation.

  3. Providing constructive feedback: in the third part of this course, you will learn how to provide feedback (face-to-face or writing) via the report.

Meet Our Speakers

John is passionate about coding and has over 25 years of programming experience with Microsoft technologies. He mentors and assesses students on our coding paths. In the videos for this course, John outlines his advice for new mentors/assessors.

Ibis is in charge of mentorship at OpenClassrooms. She was actively involved in creating this course alongside our mentorship managers. Ibis will introduce the key concepts in each video for this course.

Mike Weston

As a specialist in digital transformation, Mike wears many hats: he is an advisor, mentor, NED, keynote speaker, and author. As a mentor/assessor for OpenClassrooms, he helps our students on the Digital Transformation Lead and Business Model Transformation paths. Mike is another person you will see in the videos for this course.

See you in the next chapter!
