In just a few seconds, ChatGPT has managed to write a decent sales prospecting email.
Wait, I copied and pasted the same request and I got a different response from ChatGPT. My sales prospecting email isn’t the same. Why is this?
ChatGPT can, in fact, respond in different ways to the same question.
This is what’s known as a non-deterministic algorithm, which means that it generates responses “at random.”
You’ll notice that there is actually a 🔁 Regenerate response button at the bottom where you can ask ChatGPT to generate a new response for the same question. Try it!
Continue the Conversation to Tailor the Response
Of course, the answer you get could be better and more tailored to your needs, so that’s why you shouldn’t stop at this point. Let’s now write another message to follow up on this conversation. This helps to reshape the message and personalize it by providing additional information.
For example, I can “feed” ChatGPT by giving it examples of some of my clients:

So now the message is aimed at my target and ChatGPT has understood that it’s more relevant to include clients who are competitors rather than the Jolly law firm, which is not relevant.
Use the mobile app and talk with ChatGPT!
In addition to the web version, there are also Android and iOS mobile applications for ChatGPT. You can find them on the respective stores for phones.
However, there are very practical features on mobile that you don't have on the web version: audio conversation. There are 2 useful buttons for this at the bottom right of the screen:
These two buttons allow you to talk to ChatGPT, but there is a small difference:
The first button transcribes what you say into text. ChatGPT responds in text.
The second button allows you to switch to full audio conversation mode with ChatGPT. This time, the screen changes completely. You speak and ChatGPT gives you an answer in audio. It's a bit like having a conversation with a friend!
I personally use both modes depending on my needs. The first mode suits me most of the time, but when I can't look at my phone, I activate the second mode and start talking to it. 😀
Apply “Prompt Engineering” Best Practice
To ensure that you get high-quality responses from ChatGPT, you need to write a clear and precise prompt. Here’s some advice to help you write an effective prompt:
Structure your request. Organize your prompt so that it’s clear and well-structured. Use bullet lists or number the important points to guide ChatGPT in its response. This will enable the algorithm to better understand your expectations and provide a coherent response.
Give ChatGPT a role. To ensure that ChatGPT provides a response in a particular tone of voice or demonstrates a certain level of expertise, give it a role to play. For example, if you want to write a summary of how to plan cybersecurity horizon-scanning activities, say something like: “You’re a cybersecurity expert and you often pass on your knowledge to others who are starting out in this area. Write a summary explaining how to carry out cybersecurity horizon-scanning activities.”
Be specific. The more detail you provide in your prompt, the better ChatGPT’s responses will be. Avoid vague instructions and provide precise information on what you’re expecting. For example, instead of saying: “Tell me about Italian cuisine,” be more specific and say: “Give me a list of traditional Italian pasta recipes.”
Define the context. If your request relates to a specific context, ensure that you tell ChatGPT. For example, if you’re asking for book recommendations, specify the genre and some authors that you like, or perhaps examples of books you’ve read that you enjoyed.
Give examples. If you want ChatGPT to generate something very specific, give it tangible examples to help it to understand what you’re expecting. For example, if you want to generate a description for an event you’re planning, give it details about the location, what you want to include, desired ambiance, etc.

Now it’s your turn to try it out and start your first conversations with ChatGPT.
Start by asking simple questions about your chosen subject, such as a recipe that you’d like to try out, or perhaps ask for an explanation of a subject you’re not sure you understand, such as the greenhouse effect or how the stock market works.
You’ll quickly see that you’ll need to apply the five prompt-engineering tips we gave you earlier to ensure you get the responses that work for you. For example, you could ask it to provide detailed steps for the recipe or use simpler terminology when explaining complex ideas.
The first prompt is unlikely to be perfect, so you’ll often have to continue the conversation to get a response that’s more relevant to you.
Retrieve Your Conversations
We’ve just had a conversation with ChatGPT. After our initial message and a pretty decent response, we asked it for some subsequent changes to the text. ChatGPT has retained the context as an archive of the conversation so that it knows what we were talking about.
That’s why we didn’t need to remind it each time that the name of our company was TechInnoWeb.
